Filming and Editing Inspirations
When deciding ways in which to film and edit our music video we took heavy influence from the rock genre as this is our genre for our music video. We took inspiration from bands such as Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold and Linkin Park themselves. We liked these due to their general fast paced nature. This being from the many jump cuts used.
This is 'Stupify' by Disturbed. Disturbed in general are a dark themed band but this video has a very dark nature. It is set in what looks like a rough apartment block. The video features lots of jump cuts making it very fast paced to fit with the song. This is the style we went for in our music video.
We would also like to include in our video 'head banging' as it is almost a rock video staple and also jumping to continue the rock nature of the video. In this video head banging is featured throughout by the guitarists. They also jump at 1:07 in the video. These features would be great to include in our music video to create the classic rock 'feel'. Also it will seem professional.
Disturbed also used edits in some transitions. I think they are fast screen wipes. They are started by quickly tilting the camera in a certain direction then the edit follows. We would like to feature similar transitional edits in our video too.
This is Carry On by Avenged Sevenfold
Although this is an animated video i would still like to take some of the shots from it. These shots would just be M Shadows mannerisms whilst on stage. The key ones would be the way he looks to the sky on key lyrics.

Merchandise Fashion Board
After deciding our merchandise post was a little bland we decided to make a fashion board of our merchandise so our audience isn't bored whilst checking out the merchandise.

Photo Inspirations
We took this image in the music room of our school, where we filmed a few clips for the video. We did this because this is where all of the musical equipment is. This made for easy access and set up for the video. We felt it made a good backdrop due to all of the guitar cases and amps. Thus fitting with the rock genre of the video.
This photo was taken in the same place for the same reasons. I like this photo due to the angle it was taken. This makes us seem important and bigger than we are. This made a good shot for the video. This will be the image used for our poster for those reasons. I also think it would be good for a poster as it is different. Most posters don't feature the band playing the images. They usually have them looking at the camera. This way it is more natural and original.
This image was taken in a small side street in the rain behind chinatown. We filmed here because it has a gritty feel. We also wanted to film in the rain again to make it feel darker due to the paranoia theme of our video.

Photos from the shoot
Here are some photos from the various sessions of filming we've had over the last two months, from different days and both for two different elements of the video (performance and narrative). We are nearing the editing stage now, were we'll decide if the footage we filmed from the various days below will make it into the final cut or not among many others.
